So, I decided to start doing some yoga
I been wanting to start doing yoga for a long time. For me, yoga blocks have been really useful. I was told it was a good way to start, personally I feel they are just great! If you are a beginner, just like me, you can use these fabulous tools if you have not reached that level of flexibility you are looking for. I’m still a little bit unsteady (honestly, most of the times), so they help me find and maintain balance while doing some twisting body positions.
For those of you who have never tried yoga blocks, do it! Believe me, you will feel more comfortable, plus they help you improve the alignment of your body and adjust the postures to your level of flexibility without getting harmed or even ending up with a strain.
It depends on the pose you are working on, but you can keep your body safer by placing a yoga block under your hands, bottom or feet, this way you are able to achieve the correct positions and get the most out of stretching.
You can use them for seated poses, were the yoga block will support your lower back. To bring the body into proper alignment while doing the pigeon pose, you can place the edge of the block under the sit bone.
They are also great for standing positions, you can extend those poses by using the block in your hands as a lift. You can place your hand on a yoga block instead of placing your hand directly into the mat, while doing the half moon pose.

Even if you are not a beginner anymore and you feel you are flexible and balanced enough for almost all basic poses. You can use yoga blocks to help you deepen and strengthen your practice.
